The Yataï comes to France: Promotion of Japanese Culinary Heritage
At dusk, the Yataï invade the cities of the region of Tohoku. This traditional ephemeral restaurant offers a space to come together and enjoy the evening. Being aware of the importance of the social role of the cultural traditions in emergency situations, PSF wanted to conduct operations that helped enhance the value of the culinary heritage of the Tohoku region by bringing the Yataï to France.
The project
In order to participate in the efforts of reconstruction after the earthquake that hit Japan, PSF decided to carry out activities that helped promote the value of the culinary heritage of the region. Having the desire to promote the exchange between cultures, a Yataï was installed at the Festival Gourmand de Rennes in 2012. On this occasion, PSF invited two Japanese chefs who came from Tohoku to show us their preparations. This was also the occasion for the visitors to discover an exhibition which presented the situation of the populations affected by the earthquake and which traced also the culinary culture of the region.
