Restoring the Christ the Savior Church in Prizren, Kosovo
In 2005, UNESCO designated Patrimoine sans frontiers as the coordinator of the restoration project of the Christ the Savior Church in Prizren. In order to preserve this exceptional testimony of late Byzantine art and reopen its doors to the public, a high-quality program in favor of the protection of the church had to be carried out.
The project
As coordinator of the program, PSF had to manage the international and multidisciplinary team of experts – French, Kosovan, Albanian, Italian and Turkish scientists – that took part in the restoration of the site. PSF made sure that only the best and most modern scientific procedures and techniques were mobilized by the scientists that carried out the restoration of the church.
