The Photographic Fund of Gabriel Millet, France
Constituted by a Hellenist archaeologist, traveler and photographer, the Gabriel Millet fund is an extremely rich photographic collection that gathers over 75,000 documents (glass plates, paper prints, transparencies, slides, watercolors…) on the Christian art of the Balkans, Russia and Egypt.
The project
Having noticed the state of degradation of the documentary fund, PSF decided to join the efforts of the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes and the Christian Art department of Princeton University and participated in the restoration and promotion of the fund. In order to open the fund to the entire scientific community, we undertook an inventory of the documents and objects in the fund in order to create an online database. In addition, PSF organized exhibitions that helped promote the value of this rich collection.
